Telangana Secures Massive Investment Commitments Across Diverse Sectors at World Economic Forum

The Adani Group has committed to significant investments by signing four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) totaling Rs. 12,400 crore for the coming years.

On the second day of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Summit in Davos, Telangana secured investment proposals totaling approximately Rs. 36,670 crore. The state government formalized Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with six companies for these investment proposals.

During the WEF Annual Summit, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accompanied by IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, held meetings with various investors. The list of attendees included Gautam Adani, the chairman of the Adani Group, Nadir Godrej, chairman and managing director of Godrej Industries, Sajjan Jindal, chairman of JSW Group, Manni Kantipudi, whole-time director and CEO of Aragen Life Sciences, Mahesh Godi, founder and CEO of GODI India Private Limited, William Meaney, CEO of Iron Mountain, and Nikhil Rathi, CEO of Web Werks, among others.

The Adani Group has made significant investment commitments by signing four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) totaling Rs.12,400 crore for the upcoming years. Adani Green Energy, a part of the group, is set to invest Rs 5,000 crore in establishing two Pumped Storage Projects in Telangana with a combined capacity of 1350 MW. Additionally, AdaniConneX Data Center is planning to develop a Data Center campus with a capacity of 100 MW in Chandanvelly, involving an investment of Rs 5,000 crore.

The Godrej Group has committed to setting up a Rs.1000 crore chemical plant in Telangana, alongside establishing India's inaugural commercial oil palm seed garden in Khammam. The newly proposed seed garden in Khammam aims to produce 7 million saplings annually, supporting oil palm plantations across more than a million acres. Notably, the company is currently in the process of establishing the country's largest integrated oil palm processing complex, with an initial investment of Rs 270 crore, also located in Khammam.

Likewise, JSW Neo Energy, a subsidiary of JSW Energy, has declared its plans to establish a pumped storage project in Telangana with an investment of Rs.9,000 crore. This proposed project is anticipated to have an energy generation capacity of 1,500 MW.

GODI India Private Limited has revealed plans to invest Rs.8,000 crore over five years in the establishment of a 12.5 GWh cell manufacturing facility in Telangana. The project includes the setup of a research and development center for Lithium and Sodium Ion technologies, along with Giga scale cell manufacturing. In its initial phase, the proposed project has the potential to generate employment for 6,000 individuals.

Solidifying Hyderabad's status as the hub for drug discovery and development services in Asia, Aragen Life Sciences has unveiled intentions to expand its Mallapur facility in Telangana. This expansion involves a new investment of Rs 2,000 crore and is projected to generate 1,500 new jobs.

At the same time, Web Werks, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Iron Mountain, is in the process of setting up a 10 MW data center with a focus on networking in Hyderabad. This initiative is already in progress, and the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), committing to a new investment of Rs 4,000 crore for the development of a greenfield Hyperscale Data Centre in the state over the next few years as part of its expansion.

Extending a warm welcome to the investors in Telangana, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy assured the full support of the State government for these ventures. He emphasized Telangana's favorable business environment and commitment to fostering industrial growth. The Chief Minister highlighted that the recent investments in Telangana reaffirm the new government's determination to build an advanced and vibrant ecosystem, exceptional infrastructure, and a talented workforce. He stated, "We have successfully demonstrated to the business world that Telangana is a serious player in the business arena."

IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, along with Jayesh Ranjan, the Principal Secretary for IT and Industries, and Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, the Special Secretary for Investment Promotion, were also in attendance.
