The Mahalakshmi Scheme in Telangana is a women empowerment initiative designed to support women who are the heads of their families. Under this scheme, eligible women receive financial assistance of Rs 2500. Additionally, they can avail themselves of gas cylinders at a subsidized rate of Rs 500. Furthermore, the scheme offers the benefit of free RTC bus travel across the state of Telangana, facilitating easier and more affordable transportation for empowered women. This multifaceted approach aims to provide essential financial aid, promote access to clean cooking fuel, and enhance mobility for women in Telangana, thereby contributing to their empowerment.

The Mahalakshmi Scheme is inclusive and does not impose any religious restrictions on its benefits. Eligibility for the scheme is extended to women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) card families, ensuring that a broad spectrum of women can access and benefit from the advantages provided by the scheme. This inclusive approach aims to reach women in economically vulnerable situations, irrespective of their religious affiliations, and empower them through the various benefits offered by the Mahalakshmi Scheme.
The Mahalakshmi Scheme is part of the Telangana Congress Guarantees, which encompasses several other schemes aimed at holistic development. These include Rythu Bharosa, Gruha Jyothi, Indiramma Indlu, Yuva Vikasam, and Cheyutha Scheme in Telangana. Together, these initiatives cover a range of sectors, addressing agricultural support, housing, women's empowerment, youth development, and more. The comprehensive nature of these guarantees reflects the commitment to addressing various aspects of the citizens' well-being and fostering overall progress in the state of Telangana.
The Mahalakshmi Scheme was introduced by the Indian National Congress (INC) party to promote and improve the status of women in society. This initiative is one of the six guarantees put forth by the INC in Telangana state during the Legislative Assembly Election of 2023. The scheme is designed to provide encouragement and support to women, reflecting the party's commitment to addressing women's issues and fostering their overall well-being in the state of Telangana.
