The Telangana State Tourism and Culture Department is organizing the International Kite and Sweet Festival at Parade Grounds in Hyderabad from January 13 to 15.
The event, which has become a yearly tradition for many, turns the city center into a vibrant canvas of colorful kites. The festival has evolved into a proper event since 2016, featuring stalls, music, and a lively atmosphere.
The sixth edition of the Telangana International Kite Festival 2024 commenced at the Parade Ground in Secunderabad, drawing in a large crowd of kite enthusiasts.
This year's festival will also welcome 40 international kite flyers from 16 countries. The Parade Grounds also host a sweet extravaganza, with 1,001 women setting up stalls offering around 400 varieties of homemade sweets as part of the Sankranti celebrations. The event, open from 3 pm to 9 pm, aims to empower women by exclusively providing them with stalls. Libby Benjamin, the General Convener of the International Sweet Festival, highlights the cosmopolitan nature of Hyderabad, with participants and organizers hailing from diverse backgrounds across the country.
Kite flyers from Indonesia, Switzerland, Australia, Sri Lanka, Canada, Cambodia, Scotland, Thailand, Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Italy, Taiwan, South Africa, and the Netherlands, and around 50 national flyers will be participating this year.
